Personal Investments • Vanguard Brokerage Mutual Fund Exchange Feature

I had a phone conversation with Vanguard today because I was trying to determine if there was a way to perform a multiple-fund exchange in a brokerage account. The mutual fund platform was extremely simple: when doing an exchange you were presented with all your funds (in every account, such as Roth and tIRA, not just one) in a left-side panel and an identical list in a right-side panel, with the source fund list on the left and destination fund list on the right. You could select multiple funds in one of the two panes, but not both. So... multiple to one, or one to multiple. So you could do something like exchange $5k from fundA plus $5k from fundB to $10k in fundC, in a single operation.

The Vanguard rep shared my screen and said I wasn't seeing the two-panel view and that meant my online account was broken, so he submitted a ticket to fix it. So I'm just looking for confirmation that everybody else with a brokerage account can do exchanges as I described above. I'm not really expecting inter-account capability like with the old mutual fund accounts (such as tIRA to Roth, interpreted as a conversion, obviously), but I'm just looking for intra-account capability.

Should it be possible to accomplish the same thing in separate exchange operations? Actually not, since fundC might have a $10k minimum, for example.

The Vanguard rep suggested there should have been a link that could be selected that would take me to the older two-panel interface, but it was missing from my account.
