I would appreciate information about recent experiences with cord cutting for Internet service.
a) One way to cut the cord would be to get a top of the line cellular plan and use the cell phone as a personal hotspot.
b) Another way to cut the cord is to sign up for 5G service designed to replace corded Internet. Various entities such as T-Mobile offer this. They provide you with a box which you plug into the wall and are told to position carefully for optimal reception.
I should add that for the corded providers in this area, $35/mo + equipment rental is the usual starting offer, which will jump to ~$100/mo after the first year or two. This is what motivates me to consider alternatives.
