Personal Investments • BND – Are we at the bottom?

Are bonds (using ticker BND) the “worst” they’ll be?

I know the answer to this can legitimately be “who knows”. However, I’m trying to get sense for history and asset worth here.

I didn't invest in BND until June 2023 with my first dollars. At the time I figured it was bouncing near it’s historic lows and seemed like a good time to start since it couldn’t go much lower (historically). Granted, if you had invested in BND prior to 2022 you were in for a slide down. But are we “safe” now? I know this is kind of a judgment call, as there is really nothing safe in this world.

In essence it seems like the perfect storm of 2022 might be over and even if it happens again, this is the “floor” on the pricing and it can’t get much worse?

I’m curious of peoples opinions, there are a lot of seasoned investors out there in the BH community.

My questions:
  • Is BND safe now?
  • What is your approx bond % of portfolio?

My portfolio is stock/bond/cash(CD ladder) = 60% / 25% / 15%
