Note: This is a consumer question of how to update lenses at low cost, not a medical question
Hi,
I went for eye exam and was told to change the lenses due to change in the lenses power needed.
It seems that eye insurance pays for $150 for new frames and I have to pay $85(including $25 co-pay) for the lenses.
I wish I was allowed to just use my existing frames and get the updated lenses at no-cost.
Now I have to just throw away/donate/recycle old frame.
Allowing to re-use frames and no cost lenses replacement would have been lower cost for both the user and insurance provider.
How do you handle this, are there any places that charge less for updating lenses on existing frames?
Break down:
$40 for poly carbonate lenses (plastic seems to be free but they are very very thick)
$10 for uv blocking
$10 for anti-glare
$25 copay
