Hi all,
I am 31 and see myself getting married in next year. Do not have any kids but have discussed with my partner having 2 kids in the next 4-5-6 years.
I have started exploring 529 plans. My main question is good idea for me right now to open one and start contributing monthly? Or would you table it for now until start getting closer to having kids?
I have decent portfolio of $900-$1mm. That includes 6-7 emergency fund. Stable job where I can save a lot still after maxing out 401k, IRA, HSA, etc.
Are there any plans / tips anyone has thinking about opening an account. I am in NYC. Are there any suggested NY state plans to check out? Kind of just confused how to evaluate / if I should be evaluating. Know benefit is you can contribute post-tax and then have tax-free growth.
Thanks.
