For ETFS, I currently have SCHB, SCHD, SCHF, DGRO, and QQQ. I add to all positions when I can with the exception of QQQ (QQQ was gifted to me, and while not many shares, they were purchased in 2013 when the price was below $70). In terms of value, my largest position is SCHD, followed by QQQ, DGRO, SCHB, SCHF. In the new year, I am considering adding SCHG but if I did that, I was thinking about selling one position for 2 reasons: potentially too much overlap and for simplicity—adding to 4 positions (not including QQQ) instead of 5. Hypothetically, I would use the money from selling DGRO to buy an initial position in SCHG, and maybe use the rest to add to SCHD.
I did some research and used whatever tools I could to analyze the ideal 4 ETF combination picking 4 from SCHB, SCHD, SCHF, DGRO, and SCHG. The results concluded to remove DGRO if I were to add a position in SCHG. Just curious of any opinions? For context, I do also have some individual stock positions, bonds, and money market (all held in a taxable Schwab account), but I’m trying to focus a bit more on ETFs. Thank you in advance!
SCHB = Schwab US Broad Market ETF
SCHD = Schwab US Dividend Equity ETF
SCHF = Schwab International Equity ETF
SCHG = Schwab US Large-Cap Growth ETF
DGRO = iShares Core Dividend Growth ETF
QQQ = Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1
