My wife passed away in Nov 2024 and I signed our daughter up to receive survivor benefits. I was expecting to be able to verify my wife's earning history. But the interview was over the phone and they said there wasn't any way to verify anything. Now I've already received my daughter's first payment. So I have a couple questions:
1) I assume my wife's 2024 earnings hadn't been added by her employer based on the timing. Are those lost forever or will they be added in the future? They will have been her highest earning year so I hate for my daughter to not get that benefit. Did I screw up by filing too fast?
2) Is there anything I can or should do to view/verify her earning history or then request an update?
