OK, I'll go first. We have a 2017 Tiffin Wayfarer Coach sitting atop a 2016 Mercedes 3500 Sprinter, burns diesel of course. Our familiarity with the RV, and specifically the Sprinter began in March 2022 when we bought the RV from a private seller in Wisconsin. We drove it to Alabama, and over the almost three years since -- I have become numb to driving the RV with Check-Engine-Light (CEL) illuminated. That was not the case when we first saw the light come on those almost three years ago. It comes on A LOT.
The insight I'm looking for is determining when the CEL comes on, AND I really do need to take more action than I currently have .... which is:
I purchased an Autel Maxi-AP200 diagnostic tool a couple years ago, and I love it. Every few months when the CEL comes on, I pull out the device and plug it in -- and have to relearn the troubleshooting process using the app on my phone which is configured for the Sprinter. Most of the time I can run the scan feature, and clear the "faults" using the AP200. But not all the time.
Fast forward to today. I performed the activities described above last week before we took the RV out-of-town to go camping. The tool picked up several faults such as:
> CDI-Motor Electronics 'CDID3' for combustion engine 'OM651' (Fault |2)
> PSM (Fault |2)
> DBE-Overhead Control Panel (Fault |1)
> Multfunction Camera (Fault |1)
I cleared a few of these, but CEL still illuminated while I made the one-hour drive to the campground.
The RV stayed put for two days and nights while we enjoyed our weekend at the Park. Today, cranked it up and guess what -- CEL is off, and stayed that way driving home.
As long as the vehicle operates as expected, I'm driving it with CEL lit up.
What are your thoughts and experiences? Are there other forums to post and share experiences with the Sprinter?
