We are shopping for policies and DW talked to an agent who said she had a plan that was a medically underwritten plan through United Healthcare. (I can't find anything mentioned about these plans on their site.)
You have to be pre-screened before acceptance, (it is a PPO) and at the time you apply, they take your credit card. If you're accepted, you're in—they start the coverage.
It seems odd to ask for the credit card at time of application, but the agent said they have physicians doing the underwriting research and don't want to waste time if people aren't serious about joining the plan.
Has anyone heard of this, or should we be wary?
