Personal Finance (Not Investing) • SS and Max Family Benefit w/Child Question

Thanks for taking the time to read. I am trying to understand the Max Family Benefit as it pertains to a married couple with a dependent child. I have run calcs on Opensocialsecurity.com and AnyPIA and they don’t’ agree. Also read the book “SS made simple...” by Mike Piper, also searched the forum but no joy. So here is an example of my question.

•Harry is 1 year out from SS, his PIA is $2,000
•June is already retired and has a monthly benefit of $300
•They have a disabled child.
•Max Family Benefit is $3,500.

So when Harry retires in a year at his FRA, the payout would be:
•Harry gets $2,000 (this counts toward MFB)
•June get her benefit $300 + $700 plus up to 50% of Harry’s PIA ($700 goes toward MFB)
•Child is eligible for $1,000 (50% of Harry’s) but only $800 is left in MFB (3,500-2,000-700)

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.
