Got my DD a MacBook Air for school and got an Apple ID set up. I used her school email address as the username. So far, so good. Email is working but the problem is that I can’t get iMessages or FaceTime to work. She doesn’t have a phone but I thought she could text/call through the computer. I have no plans to get her a phone but I like the idea of staying connected via the Mac through iMessages.
Questions:
Does she need an iCloud email address to use iMessages? I created one for her but now that seems to be causing issues with her Apple ID![:oops:]( "D'oh")
I keep getting “this ID can’t be verified at this time” messages when I try to sign in and use iMessages.
Is it even possible to text/FaceTime via the computer alone without an iPhone?
Is the Apple store the best place to get help if we really hit a wall, or is there a number we can call? Or Best Buy Geek Squad?
