Hello everyone! I have had many doctors visits this year and have regularly been taking public transit to these appointments. I know that bus fee is reimbursable by my HSA so I have been recording them in my spreadsheet for future reimbursement when I choose to withdraw from my HSA (not anytime soon). The problem is, I don’t get a receipt when I pay for most of the public transit, so I don’t actually have any proof that that’s how I got there.
Does anyone know if this is likely to cause an issue down the line? We are talking $5 per doctors visit so it’s not insane, but also skipping out on $5 or reimbursement might be worth not gettin audited. Also, if I do get audited for that, could it be as simple as saying “never mind, I won’t ask for that reimbursement?” (I’ve never been audited before).
Thank you!
