I've been happy with Verizon wireless for more than 20 years but customer service has plummeted in the past year. Although reception and cell coverage have been okay, I've had multiple problems with billing errors and am currently unable to view usage details on the website. Every call to the support line requires at least 15 minutes to explain the problem, followed by 20 minutes of ineffective simple fixes like changing the password, clearing the cache etc. After 30 minutes I'm lucky to get on hold with "level 3 technical support", which just means someone who fills out a trouble ticket and submits it on my behalf. Sometimes the problem is fixed within a few days, but often it returns. It's clear that Verizon does not have competent talent to fix software bugs efficiently.
How difficult is it to keep the same phone and number when switching providers? Is it best to go to a store to do this, are new SIM cards required? We both have newer iPhones. ATT will be my top choice, they have the best coverage in our area.
