Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Joint Tenants in Common

2 spouses have both wills and trusts in place. One spouse passed and everything is being settled properly, avoiding probate.

There is however, one JTIC account at Fidelity.

Fidelity is refusing to release the funds to the other spouse who is on the joint account, without a court document (letter of administration or testamentary), essentially forcing probate. One can say 99-100% of the account is owned by the surviving spouse.

What a PITA. Not an issue with JTWROS.

Any help appreciated!
