I am looking for a good source for an inexpensive laptop for general web browsing and occasional printing duties.
I have a very outdated laptop now running Windows Vista along with an equally old Brother laser printer (so old that I cannot find drivers to print from other laptops).
I am getting to the age where I no longer can manage responding to emails on my phone efficiently - Common issues are:
1. needing to print a shipping label/merchandise return. For this, I forward the label to my personal email, access gmail on my old laptop and print.
2. needing to fill-in/sign a PDF form and upload it somehow (i.e. health records, school records for family, etc.). This is incredibly frustrating and after years on my iOS phone, I still think I'm doing it wrong (why can't I open the PDF on my phone without having to use the Files app or Google Drive, then filling it out, then uploading it somewhere, or emailing it back to whoever.
3. As I get older I am needing to sign-up for various "health portals" and these are very difficult to navigate on my phone, let along upload documents or respond to items needing attention.
In addition, I receive a lot of personal emails daily and they are just hard to "manage" on a phone..I have automatic folders set up to sort things as they come in, but it's just a lot of scrolling, "starring of important items" and sometimes forgetting these various emails.
My thoughts are I could manage this better with a laptop where I could visually see things and often I feel a laptop experience is better than phone. I've resisted for years as a frugal person.
Other than Costco, are there other places for a new or slightly used laptop in the $200-500 range? I prefer a large 17" screen and a keyboard with a numeric keypad like on my old Dell laptop - not sure if that is still common? Any issues with a used laptop other it has been touched previously by someone?![Sad :(]()
