You can now convert mutual funds to ETF online. You do not have to call. Once logged into your account and looking at the Dashboard (or click on My Dashboard). At the top there are drop down menus.

- Select Transact, then select Buy & Sell. Direct link to the Buy & Sell page.
- On the Buy & Sell page there should be an option to "Convert Vanguard mutual funds to ETFs". Direct link to the ETF Conversions page.
Notes:
- If it's not a Roth IRA, you probably should change your accounting method from Average to SpecID. LINK
- Here's a list of Mutual Funds that have an equivalent ETF and can be converted tax free (if it's a tax-able account). LINK
- From other posts, the conversion process takes a few days.
