I have my credit reports frozen with the 3 bureaus. Now I've been advised to lock my SSN to prevent rogue prospective employees from using my SSN on their job applications/records. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Perhaps I'm paranoid but I'm always concerned with getting my account screwed up with Social Security. I'm well retired and will not be seeking any employment. Under what possible circumstances might I have to unlock my number? I understand that could be a hassle. Comments appreciated.
